Fanni, Dicks, Shittu and Assmann: The funniest footballer names! talkSPORT

Marseille defender Rod Fanni did a fine job keeping out Man United in the Champions League but we couldn't help chuckling every time the commentator mentioned his name. It was the same with these chaps too.

Mirko Dickhaut?
Dickhaut is currently manager of lower German league side Hessen Kassel. A former footballer, he played for four years at Frankfurt before moving and spending five at Bochum. ?

Igor Shitov?
Belarus defender who currently plies his trade in the Belarusian Premier League at FC BATE. He was part of the national team that beat France 1-0 in Paris during the 2012 Euro qualifiers and has also come up against England during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Fabian Assmann?
Attracted interest from Chelsea in 2009 as a result of his displays in goal for Argentinian outfit Independiente. Judging by his missus (below), his name is very apt and with John Terry in your side it's probably a good thing he stayed put.

Stefan Kuntz
Former Germany striker who was part of the victorious Euro '96 winning team, playing in the final and semi final against England where he scored the 16th minute equaliser, cancelling out Alan Shearer's early striker. Now chairman of Bundesliga team Kaiserslautern.

Chiqui Arce?
Retired now but during his career, he made 61 appearances for his country, Paraguay and played in two World Cups - in 1998 and then again in 2002. Check out his stunning free-kick against South Africa.

Juan Toja and Ricardo Faty
A double entry seeing as they both play for the same club – Aris Thessaloniki, which is funny anyway – and who caught our eye when lining up against Man City in their recent Europa League clash. Toja, the midfielder, joined the Greek side last year and has turned out for his country, Colombia on three occasions. Faty has also been there since last year having moved from Roma after spells on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and Nantes.

Danny Shittu
The big centre back is currently in his second spell at QPR following his first stint in 2002 after joining from Charlton, initially on loan before a permanent move. Since 2000, he's racked up 28 caps for Nigeria and played in three of his country's group games against South Korea, Greece and Argentina.

Bernt Haas
The defender spent time in England at Sunderland and then West Brom in the early part of the last decade. He won 36 caps for Switzerland and during Euro 2004, he was sent off in England's 3-0 group stage win where an 18-year-old Wayne Rooney scored twice, becoming the youngest player to score in a European Championship. While playing for West Brom, he scored in the 2-0 League Cup win over Man United in 2003.

Julian Dicks
And now for someone from these shores. Although we're sure the former West Ham and Liverpool defender got a fair bit of abuse from the terraces for his surname during his playing days, we doubt very much that it was ever said to his face.

Bonus
The Young Boys of Bern play at the Wankdorf Stadium in Switzerland. Presumably when the club faced Tottenham in the Champions League qualifiers earlier in the season, a whole lot of people got in trouble for their Google searches.
